Last day in London

Hello and welcome to the final post for "A bit of Europe in Summer". I'm posting this from London City Airport and will arrive back in Oz sometime Thursday. It's been fun, but it is time. For the last day, despite being somewhat tender of foot, i wandered around as usual, including the British Museum... here are the pics:

Tate Modern

Tate Modern is a huge art museum for modern art, built in a old power station.










And there is a pretty good view from the top floor.




When you're unsure of the value of your contribution to humanity, take some comfort by looking at modern art.  On the other hand, as a learned London local advised today, the huge monetary sums paid for some of these works may be a dampener to that view...

Munich

A day at München included a further 9 stories of tower. History and history-in-the-making. I got another dose of street theatre in the form of pro/anti immigration agitations. And the award goes to .... the German police tactical units.

Sometime capital of the Holy Roman Empire

The old capital of "Europe" in many ways, and many times between 1300 and 1600AD is today's capital of the Czech Republic, in Central Europe. Charles IV has a big name here. The country has Moravian, Bohemian and German populations and 20th century headlines in betrayal and tragedy...

Gröt = porridge

Stockholm's history as a town starts 1252 with a peace deal and a 12 year old king. Something about the sun and air feels "super-real" here. The pics are
