The pace quickens, and last week I returned to mainland Europe: Bruges, Belgium. A very walkable city and one of three towns described as "the Venice of the North". The 'tools' are chocolates...

Botanical gardens and Addison's Walk are both next to the college. The poem by CS Lewis (helpfully on a wall along the Walk) sums it up...

Oxford is unique.

Back in Canterbury

Rob doesn't do words, so I've been entrusted with the task of writing his blog sentence.  So, here's some more photos of Canterbury.  That was easy, and also somewhat beneath me.  I don't know why he complains.

York

A few pics are the York Minster and 'local scenes'. The last few are from the Holy Trinity Church, "the only monastic building in York to survive as a regular place of worship".
It's all a bit overwhelming.

Edinburgh

At the top of nearby hills is "Arthur's Seat". Meanwhile Edinburgh is hectic with the Fringe Festival. The comedy has been funny and the drama intense, but the weather Scotch and thus these are better pics...

From Ireland to Scotland

Travelling... concluded the drive around Ireland and caught the ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan, then buses, trains, Glasgow. Uncooperative weather this last few days.
